Gina's Recipes Take The Cake
Gina was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where her love for baking began early. It didn’t take long for her family to notice she had a special talent for cakes—and they made sure to encourage her every step of the way.
Life eventually brought Gina to the U.S., where she pursued higher education and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Houston. Her professors challenged her to refine her eye for structure, form, and function—skills that would later play a major role in her cake designs. But while architecture shaped her perspective, her heart kept calling her back to her first love: cake.
In 1999, Gina designed and created the cake of her dreams. But this wasn’t just any cake—it was the cake. The one that sealed the deal and reignited her passion for baking.
By 2003, that passion blossomed into reality with the opening of Cakes by Gina—a small bakery led by a big-hearted, wildly creative cake artist. Within just two years, the business flourished, gaining team members, loyal clients, and a glowing reputation in the community.
In 2008, Gina’s success had outgrown the original space. With even bigger dreams (and even bigger ovens), she expanded into a new kitchen—unlocking a whole new world of sweet possibilities.
More than two decades after opening her doors, Gina continues to be driven by her passions. She is hands-on with every consult, even as her team and business have grown over time. Her kitchen only delivers cakes that are freshly baked in-house upon ordering. The successful integration of her loves for baking and architecture has resulted in countless praise from her clients, peers, and the industry. Her unique perspective is the secret ingredient to building cakes that are equally pleasing to the palette as they are to the eye. Gina, along with the team she has assembled over time, is as committed to customer satisfaction and excellence as the day she opened her bakery.
